Name: Shri Shakti Kumar Negi
Mr. Shakti Kumar Negi is an IAS officer of 1981 Batch of Bihar Cadre. He was born on 7th April, 1956 in village Ribba District Kinnaur in Himachal Pradesh. He passed his Matriculation Examination in 1976 (1st division) and B.Com (1st division)in 1981 from D.A.V College, Jalandhar, Punjab and obtained his Master’s Degree (1st division) in Economics from Magadh University, Bihar.
He held important positions in Bihar including Development Commissioner, Bihar, Principal Secretary to Governor Bihar, Principal Secretary Vigilance Department, Irrigation Commissioner, Secretary Education Department and Divisional Commissioner, Magadh, Tirhut and Darbhanga Divisions. He also served as District Magistrate in Jehanabad, Buxar districts and Sub-Divisional Magistrate in Jehanabad, Bihar.
He underwent many short-term and long-term training within and outside the country.
As Development Commissioner, Bihar he was closely involved in the formulation of policy & approval of the projects relating to electricity sector. He was also closely associated in implementation and monitoring of power sector schemes during the field postings. He has been keenly observing the development of power scenario of India in general and of Bihar in particular and firmly believes that access to assured quality electricity at affordable rates can contribute to rapid economic development.
He assumed the office of Chairperson, Bihar Electricity Regulatory Commission on 1st October, 2015.
