Ramesh Kumar Choudhary is presently Member, Bihar Electricity Regulatory Commission and took oath on 08.08.2016.
Before joining BERC, Mr. Choudhary worked in NTPC in various capacities before taking premature retirement after 36 years of service and had been associated in developing of Thermal power plant of unit sizes upto 800 MW. Mr. Choudhary was pioneer in setting up of first NTPC super critical unit of 660 MW at Sipat.
Mr. Choudhary travelled across the globe mainly Australia, Russia, USA, Germany, Spain, Japan, China, Malaysia etc. and represented the country in various forums.
Mr. Choudhary is widely recognised for his expertise in Steam Turbine Island. He has immensely contributed in Make in India concept by introducing phase manufacturing programs in terms of developing manufacturing and testing facilities in India by various foreign equipment manufacturers. He had also been actively involved in Mergers & Acquisitions of power plants program of NTPC.
Mr. Choudhary was associated for Development of Advanced Ultra Supercritical Programme in India in GOI appointed Committee. He is former Committee Member of Energy Management Sectional Committee of Bureau of Indian Standards. He also worked as a committee Member constituted by Central Electricity Authority for assessing Performance of Chinese Equipment (BTG) within & outside India.
Mr. Choudhary is a technocrat and has done Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from BIT-Mesra, Ranchi, in 1980
